What is the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS)?

MCS is a mark of quality and demonstrates compliance to industry standards that companies strive to meet. It highlights to consumers that companies are able to consistently install or manufacture to the highest quality every time.
MCS covers up to 50kW for electricity generating technologies, and 45kW for heat generating technologies. For installations of this size, incentive schemes are available for electricity generating technologies, i.e. Feed-in-Tariff (FITs) and heat generating technologies, i.e. Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

For your customers installations to be eligible for FITs, non domestic and domestic RHI incentives, the product and the installation company must be MCS certified at the time of commissioning. Please note that heating technology products eligible for the domestic RHI must also be listed on the Ofgem Product Eligibilty List
