Contractors must first achieve registration to the Approved Contractor Scheme.
The process to extend the scope of approval follows three simple steps:
NICEIC will review the application and appoint an Assessing Engineer to conduct the onsite assessment to assess competence of the contractor. Contractors will need to demonstrate their competence by:
All potential Hazardous Area contractors will be required to undergo training in the competency requirements for Hazardous Areas (CompEx) and to maintain their knowledge on an ongoing basis through refreshment training every three years. To find a course near you visit www.compex.org.uk.
If, for any reason, the contractor does not meet the Scheme requirements, NICEIC will provide full support to enable them to achieve compliance and gain approval. Once approval is achieved, it is maintained through a programme of annual assessment visits and through update training every three years. For further information please download the factsheet below.
