This course is aimed at heating engineers involved in the installation, commissioning, service and repair of central heating systems, solar thermal hot water or heat pumps.
The training and assessment have been designed to comply with the requirements of Approved Document L1 of the Building Regulations. Candidates will gain an understanding of:

  • Current requirements regarding energy efficiency of a property, including heat loss calculations and Part L of the Building Regulations
  • Reasons behind the need for energy efficiency in today’s homes
  • Best practice regarding energy efficiency

The changes to Part L1 of Building Regulations which came into effect in April 2005 mean that heat producing boilers fitted in dwellings should be high efficiency condensing boilers and system upgrades should meet the appropriate requirements.
