The level 3 Non-Domestic Energy Assessor Course is designed for candidates who have an understanding of general building fabric and services and are looking to become Non-Domestic Energy Assessor on buildings with frequently occurring characteristics.

The course is aimed at those without specific background experience of non-domestic buildings. However, applicants should have an understanding of general building fabric and services and be comfortable with the use of computer systems.

Successful candidates will be qualified to undertake energy calculations using approved Simplified Building Energy Modeling (SBEM) or Dynamic Simulation Modeling (DSM) software on commercial buildings in order to produce an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

Non-Domestic Energy Assessor qualifications are split into different levels:

  • Level 3 allows assessors to complete EPCs on all buildings with frequently occurring characteristics
  • Level 4 covers buildings without frequently occurring characteristics

The Level 3 (new entrant) training includes:

  • Portfolio of evidence incl 3 EPCs and energy inspection observed by assessor
Before attending the training, candidates are expected to have downloaded and installed SBEM software. Candidates should also have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
