Introduced in July 2015, the new Edition 7 Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure will be enforced from July 1st 2016. The NICEIC would like to highlight the importance of gas engineers being up to speed with the new version of GIUSP. Edition 7 provides guidance to Gas Safe registered businesses and engineers for dealing with unsafe situations in domestic and non-domestic premises supplied with natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas.

The online course takes approximately 2 hours to complete and will cover the following topics:

  • Dealing with Unsafe Situations in Customers premises
  • RIDDOR
  • Unsafe Categories
  • Immediately Dangerous
  • At Risk
  • Not to Current Standards
  • Concern for Safety

The updates include significant changes to previous Procedures:

  • The NCS (Not to Current Standards) category has been removed
  • In certain circumstances, turning off the gas to an At Risk (AR) installation won’t remove the risk or danger. They now have their own amended procedure engineers must follow
  • The GIUSP no longer lists installations that are RIDDOR reportable. However, you are still required to notify under 6(1) or 6(2) or RIDDOR
  • A ‘Danger Do Not Use’ warning label has been introduced.

Gas Safe registered businesses and engineers who operate in domestic and non-domestic premises supplied with natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas.

Gas Safe Register will not be inspecting to this version of the Procedure until July 1st 2016.  Act now to ensure you are entirely up to speed with the Edition 7 changes.
Candidates achieving this qualification will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the Edition 7 changes to GIUSP.

Course duration is approximately 2 hours.
