Sir Geoff Hurst enthrals audience at Live North

Electrical contractors filled out Bolton Arena last week as NICEIC and ELECSA held the second Live North event.

Hundreds of visitors poured through the doors to listen to a number of seminars and presentations including a keynote speech from guest speaker Sir Geoff Hurst.

The 1966 World Cup winning hero regaled the audience with stories from his career as a centre forward with West Ham, Stoke and most notably England. The only man to ever score a hat-trick in a World Cup final also spoke about his time in business and drew on the characteristics required to succeed in both.

“Whether it is sport or business, if you want to be successful you have to be passionate,” said Sir Geoff. “

“Having people around you working to the same goal is also important. I had a great manager and a great team full of different characters.

“You also need that bit of luck to be in the right time at the right place. I got my chance when Jimmy Greaves got injured, and you have to ready to take it as inevitably your chance will come.”

In addition to the technical talks, there was a busy exhibition hall and attendees took advantage of some great offers from leading names in the electrical industry, including Click Scolmore, WF Senate, ESP and Peugeot – who brought along a rally simulator for guests to enjoy.

Visitors also had the opportunity to spend time and chat with various teams from NICEIC and ELECSA including customer services, technical, insurance, sales and online certification.
