Sparks flock to free roadshows

29/11/2017

Around 300 electrical contractors attended the free roadshow events put on by NICEIC in Scotland recently.

The three events in Glasgow, Ayr and Edinburgh proved very popular with sparks who were keen to quiz NICEIC’s technical experts about some of the latest developments in the industry.

Attendees were also able to chat to representatives from Local Authority Building Standards Scotland (LABSS) and discuss some of the typical problems they come across when inspecting building work.

Stuart Thompson, NICEIC’s Area Manager for Scotland, commented: “The roadshows give us the opportunity to speak to electricians directly about the latest happenings within the industry and find out first-hand the issues they want us to look at.

“This was probably the most popular series so far. There was a huge interest in the 18 edition of the wiring regulations which is due out next year and the chance to ask questions directly to members of LABSS was also very popular.”

“It’s a great day out for anyone involved in the electrical industry and an opportunity for contractors to hear from some of the leading names in the industry and to talk face to face with suppliers, manufacturers and other contractors from the electrical contracting industry

In addition to the main talks and presentations the NICEIC team also put on a supplementary session for young apprentices at the event in Ayr.
More than 50 apprentices attended and were given an insight into the industry along with some handouts to help them with their studies.
