The City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391-10)

Who should attend?

This qualification is designed for experienced personnel working in the electrical industry. The qualification is not intended for non-qualified electricians and/or those who do not have experience in inspecting, testing and certifying electrical installations.

Candidates without this experience should consider gaining the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing and Initial Verification (2392-10) and obtain further industry experience.

The Course Programme

Day 1              

  • Legal requirements
  • Safety requirements

  • Schedule of inspections

Day 2

  • Dead testing
  • Earth electrode testing

Day 3

  • Live testing
  • Verification of voltage drop
  • Certification
  • Course review
  • Revision session

Further to the training, a 2½ hour theory-based written exam must be taken in addition to a 3½ hour practical assessment. The theory exam must be taken at a time and date set externally by City & Guilds.

Benefits

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a much better understanding of the inspection and testing process and could be considered suitable qualifying supervisors for an NICEIC registered contractor.

Next Step

Gaining the 2391-10 qualification may lead to progression onto the 2391-20 qualification (Level 3 Certificate in Design, Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations).
