Domestic Periodic Inspection and Testing (Virtual Reality)

This virtual reality course provides candidates with the knowledge needed to carry out periodic inspections on domestic properties.

Who should attend?

This qualification is designed for those working in the electrical industry who currently conduct some form of inspection and testing.

Delegates should have a good understanding of the current edition of BS7671 and its application. A good knowledge of different types of domestic properties and basic IT skills is also beneficial.

  • Visual inspection, observations and codes           
  • Visual inspection and form filling

Day 2

  • Assessment: PIR page 1
  • Assessment: Visual inspecting
  • Safe working practices
  • Dead test A ─ Continuity
  • Dead test B ─ Ring continuity
  • Dead test C ─ Insulation resistance

Day 3

  • Dead test D ─ Wander lead
  • Assessment: Safe isolation procedure
  • Assessment: Dead tests
  • Live test ─ Ze and Section J
  • Live test ─ Time delay RCD & Section J

Day 4

  • Live tests ─ Zs loop and RCD test
  • Last bits of PIR ─ Summary and outcomes
  • Course review
  • Assessment: Live tests
  • Assessment: Final bits of PIR

This course consists of classroom-based learning and virtual reality assessments.

Benefits

Successful candidates will be competent in conducting periodic inspections and be able to complete the necessary forms correctly.

All Domestic Installer candidates who successfully complete this course will automatically gain extension to scope to the DPIR Scheme.
