NICEIC Certification will issue a Certificate Of Competence to successful candidates and notify OFTEC of assessments gained.
Expiry 5 years. 
Assessment Information: The OFTEC assessment scheme covers a range of installation and maintenance activities within the domestic and commercial oil industry. The following assessments are available and normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations:
OFTEC OFT10-600A 
 
Installation of Oil Fuel Storage and Supply Systems Connected to Fixed Combustion Appliances.
Contents: The candidate will be assessed in the following areas:
  • General oil safety and principles
  • Oil storage and supply
  • Ventilation, combustion and chimneys
  • Electrical safety
  • Controls
  • Servicing and of pressure jet appliances and burners
  • General servicing of heating systems
  • Commissioning and documentation
  • Fault finding
Pre- requisites: Trainees must hold either of the following:
  • For the initial assessment candidates must meet the entry requirements as laid out by OFTEC for category 1, 2, and 3 entrants.
  • This could include undertaking the OFT50 certificate of training.
  • For re-assessment candidates must have held the element previously - if this has expired within 12 months of the assessment date the initial assessment must be undertaken.
  • This would have an equivalence to Level 3 qualifications.
Re-Assessment: On expiry of certificate, candidates are eligible to take reassessment.
Previous certificates must be presented to the assessment centre as evidence of holding the initial qualification.
 
Re-Assessment can be taken up to 6 months prior to the expiry of assessments allowing learners to take advantage of the MOT style Certification
