Who should attend?

This course is suitable for engineers who have the necessary qualifications to be admitted onto the ACS Scheme. Run by the Strategic Management Board for the industry, successful completion of this course will enable an engineer to register with Gas Safe.

 Engineers are classified into 2 categories:

  •  Category 1 –   Experienced practicing gas fitting operative
  •  Category 2 –   Applicant with relevant mechanical engineering/fitting qualifications/experience

 Note:   Successful completion of the Commercial Catering Core Gas Safety qualification is a pre-requisite before gas engineers can undertake additional assessment on commercial natural gas fuelled installations and appliances.

Commercial appliance controls

Commercial core gas safety is the pre-requisite knowledge base and covers the essential core gas skills needed to undertake work on commercial natural gas fired domestic installations.

 

  • Gas safety regulations, Building Regulations, British Standards and other related legislation
  • Unsafe situations and emergency actions
  • Gas pipework (including sizing, installation, defects and faults)
  • Tightness testing principles, pipe volume, purge volumes
  • Flues and ventilation
  • Combustion
  • Combustion Performance Analysis (flue gas testing)

 

Commercial appliance controls

Covers all aspects of gas safety relating to the installation, commissioning and servicing of commercial gas appliances.

 

  • Gas safety regulations, Building Regulations, British Standards and other related legislation
  • Unsafe situations and emergency actions
  • Gas pipework (including sizing, installation, defects and faults)
  • Strength testing, tightness testing and purging principles
  • Calculation of pipe volume and purge volumes
  • Flues and ventilation

Additional Information

On the day, you will need to bring the following with you:

  •  2 x Passport sized photographs
  •  Original copies of expired/expiring ACS qualifications
  •  Note-taking material (recording devices not allowed)

  •  Commercial Gas Safety On-Site Guide (supplied to use throughout training free of charge)
