NICEIC Certification will issue a Certificate of Competence to successful candidates and notify the Gas Safe Register of the successful completion of assessments. |

Assessment Information: |
Engineers who have the necessary pre-requisites to be admitted onto the ACS Scheme run by one of our approved centres to enable registration with Gas Safe.
These engineers are classified into 2 categories:
Category 1 – Experienced practicing gas fitting operative
Category 2 – Applicants will hold qualifications detailed in Guidance Note 8 and provide written evidence to the assessment centre confirming that they have undertaken work experience and training for the range of assessments to be undertaken.
That evidence shall include:
• a written statement from a registered business detailing precisely the type, range and volume of gas work carried out.
• a certificate of achievement or written statement from the training provider where the gas training has been carried out.
or
Are undertaking a vocational qualification which has a requirement of gas work to be included, and where ACS certification is an integral part of that qualification
or
Meet the requirements of guidance note 8a (Candidates with Gas work experience gained legally from sectors of Industry outside of the scope of the Gas Safety Installation & Use Regulations).
Please Note: Applicants that do not satisfy the criteria of Categories 1 or 2 shall be classified as a new entrant to the industry and considered as Category 3 applicants."

Meter Installer & Emergency Service Provider Core
The assessment criteria have been split into:
Part A: Generic Competencies (CMA1; CESP and CMA2 LS)
1. Gas safety legislation and Standards
2. Gas emergency actions and procedures
5. Installation of pipework and fittings (pipework within meter installation)
6. Tightness testing and purging
7. Checking and/or setting meter regulators
8. Unsafe situations, use of emergency notices and warning labels
9. Operation and positioning of emergency isolation controls and valves.
Part B: Specific Competencies (CMA1 & CESP1 only)
1. Gas safety legislation and Standards
3. Products and characteristics of combustion
4. Ventilation (for domestic and non-domestic appliances)
5. Installation of pipework and fittings (outlet pipework)
12. Chimney Standards
15. Re-establish existing gas supply and re-light appliances.
Part C: Re-assessment of Options.
Meters
All aspects of gas safety relating to the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintaining and exchange meters

Re-Assessment |
On expiry of certificate, candidates are eligible to take reassessment.
Previous certificates must be presented to the assessment centre as evidence of holding the initial qualification.
Re-Assessment can be taken up to 6 months prior to the expiry of assessments allowing learners to take advantage of the MOT style Certification. Please refer to our Scheme Rules for more information on the requirements related to MOT style certification |
